Venturing to Kew Gardens, in the new normal.
Living in or visiting London, is there a better place to explore in these Covid times than a stunning garden? Kew Gardens is that perfect place. Explore the outdoors, taking time in nature for yourself or and with friends and family you haven’t seen in months.
Face mask when inside hand sanitizer stations before you enter and when you exit. No wandering aimlessly around the mini maze of the Temperate House taking in and exploring the exotic flowers, as well as that wonderful tropical smell from the warm air mixed with the water vapour turned mist. These days it is more of a walking conveyor belt straight through the middle of the main green houses. That said you are not rushed and I for one always find something new and enjoy just BEING inside the magnificent structures and abundance of tropical nature in London.
Here are a few of my favourite flower images from my time at Kew this month:
My outfit
Inspired by Kew Gardens abundance of nature and array of plants from all different parts of the world. I decided it would be fitting to wear and layer my ‘Love’ ‘Peace’ (small and medium) hoop earrings and ‘Love’ ‘Peace’ large hair clips, both in green. My dress and matching kimono style jacket was made by my talented mum many moons go. Made originally for herself, I have always loved it and look forward to the summertime to wear it each year. My flower hair arrangement is bespoke, made by me from feathers. For all headpiece and bespoke enquires please do email info@zoesherwood.co.uk I will be adding some new pieces for sale to my online shop over the next few months.
The different textures of bark, the colours and ever changing growth of the natural world. I for one can never be bored.
‘Lockdown’ and nature
I began listening to Podcasts, one of the most recent ones I listened to was by Deliciously Ella called ‘Eco-Anxiety and The Healing Power of Nature’ talking about the advantages of spending time in nature for your physical and mental health. Both of which I feel are very important. And I highly recommend having a listen.
As you may know if you have been following me for some time, my jewellery and accessories are wearable reminders. Reminders to take time out for yourself with some ‘Me’ time, self care. As well as little empowering messages, like the ‘Love’ ‘You’ rings. Perfect gifts for yourself, best friend or lover.
Kew Gardens educates as well as does a huge amount of research to help protect and look after our natural world. Your visit not only helps you but in-turn helps us all look after the world we live in just by helping to keep Kew to continue doing what it does. You do need to book in advance you can do that through Kew Gardens website here.
This is in no way affiliated or sponsored, I am just a massive nature lover and believe in the research and education to help look after our planet.
